Do not pitch or sell your product/service at an event. Conferences and seminars are looking for experts on a particular topic, not someone who wants to come in and sell their product. This is a sure-fire way to get yourself black-listed from these events in the future.

Be interesting. Think about who your audience will be, and what they want to hear. If you can give them something they will learn, you and your company will be talked about months after the conference is completed.

Know the event. Be sure you have done your homework to find out what the focus of the event will be, what media will be in attendance, and who some of the other speakers will be. This is an incredible networking opportunity for you, so don't let it slip away.
